Daily Stoic: The Big Three

“All you need are these: certainty of judgment in the present moment; action for the common good in the present moment; and an attitude of gratitude in the present moment for anything that comes your way.” – Marcus Aurelius

Inspired by The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living

Today is about clarity and living in the present. Don’t jump to conclusions or worry about something that you think MIGHT happen. How many times have you had an imaginary confrontation in your head with somebody who you were going to be seeing or speaking to later that day, then the total opposite happens and you have a great interaction? What a waste of time and energy and unnecessary stress!

For “action for the common good,” just don’t be a dick. Be good, and do positive things, and it will come back to you tenfold. Let’s get that positive energy out there!

Finally, be grateful for anything that comes your way. And going back to Day 1, recognize that things may happen that are beyond your control. Just control your own actions in response to whatever comes your way.

What are your thoughts? Keep in mind, I am not a self-help guru, so I may be way off in my commentary. I am just speaking from my 50 years of personal experience, and enjoying this journey.
